The perfect First Aid kit for Treks

May 9, 2016

Whether you’re planning to get away for a short hike or you’re looking to recharge your personal battery for a few days in the forest, it remains necessary to equip yourself with a first aid kit, just in case.

Well, you probably already know that a first aid kit is vital in any good backpack. But what are the outdoor survival essentials the perfect emergency kit should contain exactly? Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Your prescription medications (and make sure they haven’t passed their expiry date!);
  • AfterBite treatment for insect bites;
  • Adhesive bandages in assorted sizes, including bandages for the care of blisters and red skin;
  • Sterile gauze pads, roller bandages, antiseptic wipes with safety pins and adhesive tape;
  • Sunscreen and antibiotic ointment;
  • Tweezers (very useful for removing splinters), scissors and rubber gloves.

Store them in a small rigid box, preferably, and it’s done! Now you can go for a safe trek anywhere you’d like! Obviously, the size of your first aid kit will depend on your trip length, the location, your physical condition and the number of people you’re with. The most important thing to remember is that it’s better to be safe than sorry!

Have a safe hike!
