The True Nature of Charlevoix

Hiker: Gilles Morin – Club Plein Air 5 Saisons, Drummondville

The Traversée de Charlevoix is one of the most beautiful expedition trails in Quebec’s mountains. It’s a one-of- a-kind adventure, thanks to the breathtaking landscapes at the very heart of Charlevoix. It’s therefore with great enthusiasm that about ten people have accepted my invitation and have prepared their backpack to experiment this very special trip.

About 105 km of trails have been travelled in the hinterland of this undeniable charming region. The nature and the mountain have offered us a grandiose sight, thanks to the stunning autumn colours unveiled by an omnipresent sun all along our journey. Carrying heavy baggage and food between the different retreats was organized beforehand, much to the delight of hikers who had only their day backpack to transport.

In order to make a success of such a stay, Club Plein Air 5 Saisons knows the recipe: combine intense physical exercise with an appealing gastronomy. For this activity, we did not deviate from our principle and all participants were amazed to taste a five-course wine-paired menu every night, offered with the participation of Papillotte & Cie caterer from Quebec City, which always provides exceptional products. So we can understand why our participants were taking up the challenge of walking about 20 km a day!

The Club Plein Air 5 Saisons manages to visit the Charlevoix region several times every year, mainly for its magnificent snowshoe trails. Our next getaways in Charlevoix are expected on February 2017 for snowshoeing and on May 2017 for a hike filled with activities and many other surprises!
