The Huron snowshoe model is the most known shape from all snowshoes. It takes its origin from the Nation Huronne from Canada. It is mostly used for hunting, trapping, bird watching and long-distance adventures in open forests and fields. It was also the preferred model used by the French settler who established the first colony in 1604, the adventure enthusiasts and the trappers for winter hiking. Very quiet and easy to maneuver, its geometry provides great flotation in soft snow and its long tail is designed to keep the snowshoe in the walking movement as needed. - Frame made of Appalachian white ash and lacing made of cow raw hide. Note: It is recommended to apply varnish once a year at the end of the season to prevent the wood frame and raw hide to absorb moisture and water. That will extend the life of your natural snowshoe. We recommend using a wood boat varnish. |

Ojibwe name takes its origin from the Indian Nation OJIBWE from Canada that established itself along the great Canadian lakes of Ontario, in Western Canada and north central area of United States. The Ojibwe model has the most interesting and unique shape of all the wooden traditional snowshoes. This model has similarities with ancient snowshoes used by old civilizations from Siberia, Groenland and Scandinavia many centuries ago. Its unique shape provides a great flotation in open forests and fields where there is a lot of snow. Its narrow and lifted nose, combined with its long narrow tail, is providing great gliding properties in downhill on hard snow. Might it be the ancestor of the modern alpine ski? Quiet and stable, it is a good all around snowshoe for long-distance adventures. |
